From our wedding to the present in 10 seconds

So, we got hitched on September 3, 2006. I believe that we found out, with the loving help of a home pregnancy test, that we were pregnant on September 22, 2006. Things move pretty quickly around here, as you can see.

Though initially there was a whirlwind of choosing a doctor, letting the news truly sink in, going through a rough patch of all the wonderful symptoms of pregnancy, we are now fully embracing the upcoming transition into parenthood. It's time to stop talking about the baby, and actually meet this baby!

Bambino Harper is due on May 29, 2007. Now, when exactly this child will enter this world is anyone's guess. But we know this much: The baby is either a boy or a girl, this baby is most active at night or when I'm sitting still, and at the 30-week ultrasound the baby revealed that he or she has a great looking spine, beautiful lips and what appears to be an extended middle finger (yep, the baby flipped us off in an ultrasound photo).

One of the most amazing parts of this adventure is discovering how truly supportive and loving our friends and family are. The excitement is doing so much for me, personally, in helping to stay calm, healthy and positive throughout this experience. Cory's parents Alan and Margie will be second-time grandparents, Lexie & Jon and Lacey will add to their collection of nieces (or potential nephew) and our niece Ella will soon have a first cousin on her mom's side too. My parents Matty and Karen (see Matty and I at right in a "belly-to-belly" shot back on 2/17/07) will be first-time grandparents, and Jake and Nicole will be first-time uncle and auntie.

On the logistical end, we have also felt very supported by our physicians and our hospital. We'll deliver at Rose Medical Center, and that is also where we've been able to take advantage of all sorts of "we're-clearly-new-to-this" parenting preparation classes. Rose also provides an optional doula service, which we've decided to take advantage of.

We're trying to enjoy these last few weeks, and become as prepared and ready as possible (without going all crazy with the never-ending stack of baby books, childbirth literature, information, etc.). We started putting together the nursery (the photo to the right was taken on 4/9/07). Our crib and a few other items were hand-me-downs from one of Cory's friends, Dustin and Susan. We've also added bedding and a changing table, and our rocker/glider should arrive in a few weeks. We also found the cutest introductory supply of cloth diapers, and are hoping to give those a go, too!

We can only say how excited we are for the arrival of little Jack or Scout. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers!
