We are now nearing the end of February. As is a long-standing joke in our family, we sort of feel like January and February are a bust. Post-holiday let-down, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), bad weather, colds and viruses, and everything just seems harder in February. Plus, if you crave fresh food it costs you an arm and a leg. Can't wait for the farmer's market bounty.
What do you do for fun in February? Well, we do a lot of random stuff, as it turns out.

| A close up of Ruby talking to her buddy Beamer |
| Just visiting with her bud |
| Scout teaching her peeps (note: Ruby is in the back row, too) |
| Showing off her handiwork (note: I did just buy Scout her very own belt, so she won't need to borrow mine anymore) |
| Mommy's little helpers |
I don't have much success at it, but I do try to let the girls help. Once in a while. The kitchen does get pretty wet when they do the dishes.
| Helping me with the butternut squash risotto |
The vegetable peeler is one of the most popular tools for the Harper girls.
| It doesn't look like she's having fun grating the parmesan, but--trust me--she is. She ate like half of it and the rest actually did make it in the risotto. |
I really loved the Butternut Squash Risotto. Ruby ate some. Cory ate some. Scout ate none. But she did eat a lot of parmesan.
| Cory made a chalkboard for us in our hallway by the bedrooms |
My cute little hubby. We went out to breakfast together the other day, and Lacey and Travis watched the girls. He needed to stop by Lowe's, so I said to him that I had a project I wanted to show him. Well, I didn't even have to ask for his help. Before I knew it, he had bought all the supplies and planned on doing it THAT day. Note to self: Put Cory in charge of more projects more often. It also might be helpful to make these suggestions after a nice hearty breakfast.

| Playing with Anja |
We hadn't seen Anja in a while. I love having her over, since she plays so nicely with both girls.
| A laundry basket full of clean tissues |
This is kind of a funny story. I left the laundry basket out, and thought nothing of it. Then, I noticed it was filled with something. Hmm. Apparently, Scout wanted to set the tissues free from the confines of their restrictive box. Now they are living in the laundry basket. So, if you come over to our home and find you are in need of a kleenex, look no further than the laundry basket on the floor of the bathroom.
| Reading the girls some books |
This was just the other night. The girls and Cory read like that for a while, so he decided to just keep reading and see if they would fall asleep. As he tells it, he was the only one that he put to sleep.
| Helping me stuff some pillows full of fiberfill |
I made some pillow forms. The girls helped me stuff, and they were very intrigued by the whole process. I am really hoping to make a cute little reading area, and I want to move some furniture around to make room in the playroom. I'm going to try to make some cute things that I keep seeing on pinterest--a reading hoop with tulle, some cute throw pillows. Since I'm off of facebook for lent, I'm going too try realllly hard to get it done!
| Playing dress-up (note: she's wearing undies. Yes, we've begun that arduous process) |
It's hard to lump a whole month into this category of just being, well, as Scout would say, "Not my favorite." Dear February, I don't dislike you, it's just that most other times of the year just seem so much more fun by comparison. That's all.
Like March--when we go to Sedona again, YAY!
