Sundance visit (and one other)

So, in true confession form (as is always the case with my blog entries) I took an embarrassingly sad number of photos while in Sundance last weekend. We were there from Thursday to Sunday, and it was a lovely visit. Cory took a few days off of work, and Scout had a few days off for conferences. The weather was pretty good, and the drive worked out well. All in all, a lovely, laid-back weekend with family.

Playing in the leaves--10/25

We are supposed to get a big snow storm. And in the past few days, the weather has turned from our Indian Summer/Subtle Fall to a much more Autumnal presence. And apparently winter isn't far behind.

So, we had a big bunch of leaves that needed to be put someplace... I filled our bin, filled 10 contractor bags, and in many places in our yard it still doesn't appear as though anyone has even touched it.

Colorado Railroad Museum

Last Monday (10/10), I got an impromptu phone call from a friend: she had to run an errand that would take her to Golden, did I want to come along?

Obviously, anyone who has ever heard of Golden, Colorado knows that the Coors Brewery and the much-advertised Colorado Railway Museum are there. Since the kids would prove likely obstacles to the former, we opted for the latter.

I have to say, it was a fun diversion and plenty different from our average Monday afternoon (Dora episodes and a few rounds of dress up), but I thought the kids would be able to explore more actual train cars. There were a few, but it was limited. They didn't seem disappointed. So, I'll be disappointed for them. Ha! There was a fun array of toys and books related to trains in the main entrance area. Truly, they would have been satisfied with that!

I don't think that I'm supposed to admit this, but I watch Dancing with the Stars with my kids. Yes, my 4 year-old and 1 year-old and I watch the scantily clad stars shake their booty. I, in fact, like it a lot. I think because most of Scout's life has been spent in the quest for the most outrageous outfit, she has never once asked me about WHY these women wear the most ridiculous sequined bras or belly-baring low-cut numbers. To Scout, this must be normal.

So, the other night when we were catching up with DWTS on our Hulu plus, it was to be expected that any viewing of dancing must be met with our own dance moves as well as appropriate attire.

Utter randomness

So, life continues to be good here in FoCo. (I think that abreve is totes cool, ya know?) Like so many of us, I feel like we are just busy with life. School lends a rhythm to our weeks, and I love that Scout loves school. (She wakes up in the morning, says, "Mom, do I get to go to school today??") We have been truly enjoying our fall, which for the most part has been incredibly mild and lovely. We have been spending time with friends, which feels good. It's so funny how in some ways our move seems like it was eons ago, yet in the same breath it seems like just yesterday. So, I will probably sound like a fifth-grader when I say this, but I will anyway, "I love that we are making good friends."

I have more photos to upload, but for now this is my post. My kids are--gasp--napping. Two sleeping babes, that almost never happens anymore. If I open up my book to read, is that a signal to the my napping children to wake up? If I do the dishes instead, is that a signal to them to nap forever?

So yesterday, we had a sweet girls day--just Scout and mom. We met an old friend of mine, Stacie, at Red Robin, then went shopping. We also went to an old friends birthday party. Lots of fun.

And, I've been meaning to document this passion of Cory's! Cory has been avidly learning and brewing for the past year and a half, and has become quite the brew-master. It's a big part of many weekends--he's often off to the brew store for supplies, or brewing, or moving around his kegs... not to mention the drinking of the goodies.
