Scout's First Day of First Grade--Aug. 19, 2014

I think you can hear it now...
"C'mon, c'mon, we're going to be late! Let's get your shoes on!"

The telltale morning call of the Harpers...

The backpack & sign await the lovely lady

First photo...

Allrighty, time to get the helmet on, and dad will carry your backpack

Scootin' to school!
A quick little story about bedtime the night before school... It's hard to fall asleep when there's all that energy, right? So Scout's lying awake and calls out, "MOM! I can't remember my new teacher's name!" and I said, "It's Mrs. Hanson. You know? She shook your HAND, so she's Mrs. HANDson. Mrs. HANDson shook your HAND."  Okay, mom, okay.

Flash forward to this morning, as she's walking down the stairs, I say good morning & then I ask, "What's your teacher's name?" And she confidently says, "Mrs. Wood!" and I wave my hand to her, and then she pauses and says, "Oh, MRS. HANSON!!!"

So cute, this girl. Never have to worry about her being kind and sweet, she's just full of the innocence and love we all seem to have lost long ago... Can't wait to go retrieve her in a minute and find out how it all wen.

Wisconsin--the rest of the trip

And the trip was punctuated by a many different places and activities... scooter rides, Cory & I would take walks in the mornings, Ruby really getting her fins (especially at Blue Harbor, she swam A LOT), lots of TV time for the kiddos, Lucky Charms, trips to Evans & Depke's, tons of fresh Kohlrabi & cucumbers, Jake's visit, Cory working down at Cosmic Bounce, a trip to Elkhart to try a restaurant called Three Guys & a Pizza Slice (where they have Old Fashioneds for $2 on Mondays!), lots of Lake drive-bys, a visit with the Rauwerdink family minus Mike, and lots of other fun.

At Cosmic Bounce

We took a trip to Kohler-Andrae State Park. We had a little picnic in the shade, and then played at the beach. There wasn't much of a beach since water levels are fairly high.

Ruby loves her new Boo-Kini

She told me that she didn't want to wear a swimsuit... and silly me, I listened. I was in trouble once we got down to the beach.

Another family favorite--Klemme's Wagon Wheel on Friday night.

My darn finger!

On Saturday before we left, we went to the Lincoln Park Zoo in Manitowac. Cory took a bunch of photos on our new tablet, so maybe I'll upload those later once I figure it out. HA.
At Grandma & Papa's they played in the sprinklers... with umbrellas, actually.
