Ruby's birthday

So, way back in November of 2013, Ruby turned 4. It was rather a whirlwind. Ruby contracted this strange virus and woke up on Friday, November 15 whiney, complaining about her legs. Within nearly 30 minutes, she could not put any weight on her legs and was in tears. Not knowing exactly what was going on, we made a doctor appointment.

At this point, Grandma Margie & Grandma Marlene were heading south to Fort Collins. We'd hoped to have a little party on Saturday at Mulberry Pool.

The whole mystery illness was beyond alarming--Ruby didn't feel better, and instead appeared to feel worse & worse. At the doctor's suggestion, we gave Ruby some ibuprofen for her diagnosis of Toxic Synovitis. The ibuprofen was like a miracle drug, and although we did cancel the pool time, we didn't need to cancel all the festivities--the cousins were still able to come.

We'd planned to celebrate her birthday at our house with a cake and friends on her "actual" birthday (the 19th), so the little girl was able to get another party as well.

Singing to the birthday girl can be found here.

Ruby got bongos from dad!
It was a big celebration, and the girls had lots of fun! I'd like to repeat it again sometime, but without the toxic synovitis.
