Summer update

So, today is the 30th of June, making this entry long overdue. Well, pretty much only long overdue for my mom, who insists that I'm starving her and demands photos almost daily. The irony is that she can't even read these posts (doesn't have internet explorer), so usually Matty downloads the pictures and sends them in an email. Is that not love?
Well, anyway, here we have life at our house. Fortunately, Scout is feeling better since our last post. Although she's been having weird eating issues. One main issue really: she eats WAY less than she did before getting sick. (We welcome suggestions on how to pork up our little peanut. She really is--last weigh in: 16 lbs 13 oz.)
We've been doing a lot of stuff in the backyard, and suddenly our house feels so much bigger--the room that's available 4 months a year makes all the difference in the world. Beamer:
Here we have a couple of photos of Scout and her new found friend Beamer. Since she can now aptly drop morsels of food from her perch in the high chair, Beamer has wisened up to the fact that this crawling/pooping/drool machine might not be all that bad. Scout also really enjoys watching Beamer fetch anything and then run back towards us, nearly knocking her unconscious.
Auntie Lacey:
We also had a chance to visit Auntie Lacey up in Ft. Collins in her new digs a couple of weeks ago. Scout got to see her first train while there--and, I might add, nearly get her eardrums blown. This was all compensated with the fact that Auntie Lacey shared her ice cream with her.

***Quick disclaimer: Bodily fluid alert!***
Jill and Hannah didn't freak out:
So, our friends Mike and Jill are moving, and they're taking Hannah with them. Mike is actually already moved, but Jill and Hannah are still hanging in Colorado, finishing up loose ends. As if we're trying to cram in every last morsel of goodness, we've seen more of Jill and Hannah in the past weekend than in the past few months. And some of that goodness included a little bit of bathtime with the girls. If you notice carefully, there seems to be a discrepancy in the two photos. Almost as if, I don't know, they were taken in two separate tubs. Well, had Scout not entertained us with her own remake of the classic Caddyshack pool scene (minus the BabyRuth, add some "real stuff"), perhaps it wouldn't have been a two-bathtub ordeal. It turned out Jill and Hannah were very low-key about everything, whereas I probably would have picked up my baby and ran out of the bathroom like a raving lunatic ready to call for the HazMat guys.
Big Fat Lip:
The last bit of news is that Scout fell. Pretty hard, and largely due to the fact that I left her in a laundry basket while I turned around to dispense the detergent and put it in the washer (I swear, I'll never do it again--lesson learned!). I think she came down pretty hard on her top lip with her teeth, and it wasn't pretty. And ironically, her pajama shirt says "pretty"--which she is, of course. Especially if you like a girl with that collagen implant look.

That's what she's been up to, and by default, also what we've been up to. We'll hit Wyoming and Wisconsin in the next few weeks. Have a happy 4th of July everyone!
