So, her birthday was June 2nd. Naturally, it being her "golden" birthday and all, we had to do it up right. The play group had cupcakes with us in the morning, then we had a little cake (just the three of us) in the evening. Since the grandparents on both sides got to have her to themselves at different times near her birthday, we could lay low and really keep the celebration intimate. No bounce house this year, I'm afraid.
With all the moms and kids (minus me).
With dad, blowing out those candles.
With dad and her new birthday gift, a tryke. She is going to need a little practice to understand the concept of steering WHILE pedaling. Currently, she seems to be able to do one or the other. Then we went to Wisconsin to visit Grandma Karen and Grandpa Matty. We also got to see Uncle Jake and Aunt Nicole, and do a bit of traveling.

On a visit to the glamorous Plenco office grounds. Hey, they look good, I used to mow that grass.
Then there was a trip to the sprinkler park.
And some opening of presents.
And some cake. It had a photo of a pair of flip flops on it. Grandma knows how Scout loves her shoes.
Aunt Nicole and Uncle Jake anxiously await the blowing out of the candles! Oooh!
But those guys had to leave way too soon!
Then there was a trip to visit some of mom's high school friends at the park.
We got to meet Baby Ben.
And we got to see Hannah and Bryce swing. A lot. For like 45 minutes. I swear I've never seen kids sit in a swing that long.
She had a lot of fun times with Grandma Karen reading books.
And playing cards with Grandpa Matty.
And Grandma Karen always seems to know the trick to make lots of bubbles in the tub. (It's palmolive, people. No way that's good for your kids skin.)We went to South Bend, Indiana (after a VERY long drive through Chicago!), to attend a friend's wedding and visit with some of my grad school friends.
The basilica on Notre Dame's campus.
The couple: Jen and Jeff. You can almost see them.
With mom, outside the church.
Scout coloring in her personalized wedding coloring book--that was the coolest idea.
And the happy fam. Well, we were happy until we had to spend another 6 hours getting to Milwaukee after virtual stand still in Chicago. Cory informed me he will not be going to Chicago again anytime soon. Sorry friends.
And a brief swing into Bayshore Mall to visit with friends Brian and Jen (Brian not pictured due to him taking the same photo with their camera).
Back to Sheboygan for Father's Day. The guys enjoying the patio.
Then off to the park.
Sometimes a girl gets thirsty.
Sometimes adults shouldn't try the tube slide.
And the grandparents with their special gal.And that concludes our trip to Wisconsin. Back again in a year or so--WITH TWO KIDS! CRAZY!

Man, I am bummed you got stuck in traffic both ways. I think not having a car causes me to forget how bad Chicago traffic can be!
Love the pics of the birthday girl--Happy belated Scout!!!
Scout is quite the traveler now that she's had her 2 year birthday! Lovely photos-- I like her new bike!
