A picnic at Dowdy Lake--Sunday the 22nd

The flooding has put a damper on travel up to Estes Park and a few other locations. While it feels a bit awkward to be complaining from the safety of our dry, hospitable home, it did strike a blow to the Harper fam that our camping plans for last weekend were dashed due to road issues and the closure of the Jack's Gulch campsite.

What's a family to do? Well, we decided to explore a new location. We trucked off to Dowdy Lake, which is in the Red Feather Lakes area. We had a picnic, but the location is beautiful and we'd really like to camp there some day.

The day was overcast and drizzly

Cory set up a "rain shelter"

The girls used it as a playhut

I think that we'll be back to Dowdy Lake, and I hope next time it's warmer (or we can stay for the campfire!).
