Camping at Dowdy Lake--June 3-5

What a spectacular campground! My only gripe about Dowdy Lake is that it's the kind of place that makes you wish you had a kayak!

When we first arrived on Friday night, we saw the most beautiful sunset!

Our friends were camping nearby and stopped for a chat.

Furley got to test out his camping kennel

The next morning, the girls went out fishing with our friends. They fished from a large rock configuration on the coastline.

All the girls poking their heads through the "secret passage"

Scout was at the top, scaling some rocks

I love this photo of Cory & Furley

We tried to Geocache while we were camping. There was a geocache nearby but we couldn't locate it. We looked and looked but no luck.

But I did find this cool cactus with awesome flowers!

Not pictured, but also part of the camping trip: Lots of playtime for the girls with their friend Logan, a fairly rough spill for Ruby that resulted in a collection of band-aids and abrasions, roasting marshmallows with friends, walking around part of the lake, taking Furley for his first camping trip (he did really well!), and starting to read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the kids love it!).

The camping trip to Dowdy Lake was so much fun, and I hope that we can score a spot in this awesome campground again next summer.
