The first two nights we overlapped with Lexie and the girls, and our kids had such a nice time. The kids had Grandma's famous Root Beer Floats with Henry Weinhard's Root Beer. They played a game called "Wet Head" and played in the inflatable pool. Numerous water fights were had with the squirt guns Papa has collected. They shot stomp rockets that landed in the neighbors' yard. They played playdough inside with Grandma's large stash of toys. Ruby had Grandma French braid her hair and she winced and wiggled because she is so tender-headed.
Then we had Grandma & Papa to ourselves for a few days. On one of those days, we ventured down to the Sundance Museum.
On Wednesday, July 6, we headed over to the Palmer Gulch KOA, which is only a few miles from Mount Rushmore. We traveled back through Newcastle and then over to Custer and onto the campground.
The KOA is really huge and offers a lot to do without leaving the camping resort--there are pools, a water slide, more than one restaurant, bike rentals, mini golf, etc.
We also rented a "bike" that looks a lot like an ATV with two seats in the front, and two seats, steering and pedals in the back as well.
We had a great time visiting with family and spending time in the Black Hills.
