A few weeks ago, we begun a momentous journey. On Saturday, June 16th, we left Fort Collins at nearly 4:00 am and our mission was to drive. And drive. We grabbed a bite to eat for lunch in Council Bluffs and stopped for the night at a Best Western (in the shape of a medieval castle) near Iowa City.

Sunday concluded the drive eastward--we arrived in Wisconsin around 4 pm on Father's Day! The kids did great on the roadtrip, thus cementing Cory's plan to never ever fly again. (HA.)
We only had a short visit with Cory in town, and we spent it visiting the Terry Andrae State Park on Monday. We drove him down to the airport in Milwaukee on Tuesday, but not before stopping at Depke's for new shoes and Gosse's for butter-rich burgers.

Just a side note: Dad was so sweet to buy us a pass for the park. It said Senior Resident, and I just couldn't bring myself to try to swindle the park! We ponied up the $10.

Another side note: Depke's is a shoe store in Sheboygan Falls, and it's a place that my dad (Papa) used to take Jake and me to buy school shoes.

I think I'll end this post here... but there are plenty more photos to come of the big midwest road trip!
