When you are a kid, your birthday is sort of nebulous, I guess. Sure, one date remains focal, but a birthday celebration can occur over the course of days or even weeks. Ruby turned 3 on November 19, but we had a celebration for her on Saturday, November 17th at our usual spot, the Mulberry Pool. I was actually quite thrilled with all the adults--nearly everyone joined in the poolside fun. Only two members did not get in their suits, and they shall remain nameless.
We had a few folks in attendance that were not the usual mainstays (i.e. not related to us). Polly brought her kids, Lorelei and Gerhardt, our good friend Maddy came with her mommy Katrina, and our new(ish) neighbors Phil and Belle brought their adorable twin 18-month-olds Mirabelle and Nate.
Ruby was spoiled as any three-year-old should be, and we had a great time. Afterwards, I really thought we'd see some sleepers, but alas the stubbornness of my children cannot be predicted.

The only problem with the Mulberry Pool party room is that you only have the room for a certain amount of time before the next group needs the room, so we had to make a fast-break to get kids and adults issued out to the pool and still clean up our mess. It was a bit of a rush, but maybe I say that because I am always disorganized and rushed. So be it! There will not be any poolside photos because I lost my camera amidst the clean-up, but it did turn up.
We did do a simple cupcake sing-along on the night of her birthday. For the record, the birthday girl chose hot dogs, french fries and "bowl full of mush" (also known as polenta) for her birthday dinner.

Happy birthday to our "big" girl, it's hard to believe how fast the time goes. You will always be my baby!
