One day, I read about a hike in the newspaper. I had long heard of Lory State Park, but hadn't been there. The newspaper made this hike sound great--no bikes, self-guided nature trail, only 1.7 miles and classified as "easy." Lory State Park is close by, it's basically on the other side of Horsetooth Reservoir and it takes about 30 minutes to get there from our house. So, one afternoon, when things appeared to be heading South in a rather quick fashion, I got these girls to move their booties into the car and we quite literally headed for the hills.
The outdoors have a soothing effect on all of us. It was lovely. The first time we went, it was just the three of us and Ruby insisted on wearing a little backpack (which she did actually carry most of the way). We liked it so much that we went back with Cory on Easter Sunday.

After the hike, we went back home and dad was sooo jealous. We went back in the afternoon on Easter Sunday. The dresses in these photos were the dresses that they actually wanted to wear to church... um, they didn't actually wind up going to church together. So, that's why we needed to go for a hike so that mommy could get the grumpies out.

And Ruby wanted the camera again... and I discovered that it was kind of a motivator.
And that was our adventure in Lory State Park. I think we'll be back... lots!
