Colorado Springs--Oct. 17 & 18

We took a quick overnight to Colorado Springs while the kids had a day off for Parent Teacher Conferences.

Say what you will about the conservative politics, but there are some gorgeous views and some fun stuff to do in the joint! Even Cory had a blast!

Here we are at the entrance to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

Wait, who is that?

This little turkey wouldn't feed the poor giraffes!

On the sky ride

Oh no, Scout's head is cut off!

Beautiful view from the top

After a night at our hotel, we woke up and had breakfast (Gotta love the Holiday Inn Express!) and then headed to the Garden of the Gods.

Ruby took this.

Then she took a photo of her shadow.

Then she took another photo of us!

Hiking up the trail

After leaving the Garden of the Gods, we went to Chipotle for lunch & we headed north... but we took a winding road (intentionally) and drove through Castle Rock, up around C-470, on I-70 and then over to Central City & Black Hawk, through Gilpin County over to Nederland and down Boulder Canyon. Whew! That was a long drive, but it was a gorgeous day to do it.
