Beach time (assorted dates)

Right off the bat when we arrived in Maui on Saturday the 13th, we hit the beach.  The closest beach from where we were staying is Napili Beach. Since Hawaii doesn't have "private beaches," all of the resorts have to provide an access point. We walked through a resort that was right up against the beach with ocean views, the gardents were immaculate and the girls were taken with the flowers.

Oh, and this is what happs when you go to the beach.
On Sunday the 14th, we planned to hit the beach again. In the morning, we hit "Snorkel Bobs" and collected all of our gear. After that, we explored Kapalua Bay and the beach there. This beach is a bit smaller and more intimate than Napili, and just as gorgeous.

We might be wrong, but we think that this is the same place that Lex & Jon had photos taken around here when they got hitched

The water is so clear

We quickly figured out that it's super fun to head back to the beach for sunset. Here we are on the same day, in the evening.

JUMP!

These photos are getting a bit out of order, so bear with it. The following photos were taken at Napili after we spent the day riding in the bus to Hana. (Oh, and did I mention that the girls were totally AWESOME on that Hana trip? Amazing little troopers!)

Way back when the girls were packing, I noticed that Ruby packed like 10 blocks and a boatload or random toys.

My friend Dixie said to me, "Well, you are going to let them bring a Barbie, right?" It'll be so cute, she said, to take photos of the Barbies on the beach. All of these photos were taken at Kapalua Bay on June 15th.

Today (Tuesday the 23rd), we explored two beaches on the South side of the island. First, we checked out Big Beach in Makena State Park. It's gorgeous. It's also a bit intimidating. About 20 minutes after we got there, the lifeguard came over the intercom and said VERY CLEARLY that the break was very large and if you weren't familiar with the conditions, you should STAY OUT OF THE WATER. I mean, I'm from Wisconsin, I currently live in Colorado, I think it's safe to say I have no clue what the conditions are on a day with a big break. I stayed out of the water. We kept the kids out of the water. And they built some amazing sand castles.

And then, we still needed to find a fun swimming beach. So we explored Polo Beach. Great parking, so that made life easy. And a nice, shallow, sandy beach.

Cory discovered boogie boarding in a big way at Polo Beach. It was probably two hours of riding waves for him.
