Cory booked a boat trip where they took us out to snorkel at Molokini and at another location. We boarded the Lani Kai at around 7 am, and it looked a little bleak initially. We had to get the girls up early (not likely to bring on a surge of enthusiasm), and once we got on board the boat, we were like sardines crammed into the can. Fortunately, things quickly brightened up. The crew was beyond kind, and truly sweet to the girls. The snorkeling was much better than what we had seen beachside (and you can actually see some pretty AMAZING things beachside). When we stopped in Molokini, Scout went out with Cory and saw some fish. The water was incredibly clear and you could see to an enormous depth. Ruby got in the water for a minute, too. While we were waiting on deck, I chatted with a mom of six kids (all of them were on board, and soooo cute!), with number seven due in September. So wild!!!!!
With our first top at Molokini over, they continued on to "Turtle Town" (apparently the most misused name ever). Off the shore of Wailea, we stopped to do some turtle gazing. I got to see a big turtle and it was so cool! The crew offered to watch the girls while they were on the "trampoline" (a big area of canvas over the front of the catamaran), so Cory and I got to snorkel TOGETHER (a first for us!).
Big thumbs up on the boat trip. The return to the harbor was full of saltwater spray and lots of bumps and thrills, and apparently there was a man standing in the mouth of the harbor holding a cross (sorry to say I had my eyes closed for that one). After the trip to Molokini, Cory treated us all to shave ice at Local Boys (the photos were taken from an earlier trip to Local Boys, but you get the gist):
