Spring Break--2018

We chose an unusual location for our Spring Break escapades...
Beautiful, tropical Wisconsin.
Actually, we got crazy cheap tickets to fly in and out of Milwaukee, so we added a short trip to Chicago in the middle of our week with the grandparents. The weather held up surprisingly well for March in the midwest and we were able to walk all over the place and really enjoy ourselves. Not exactly conventional, but Spring Break in Wisconsin and Illinois gets a big thumbs up from us.

We spent our first night in Sheboygan. I did the "You click it, we pick it" for Enterprise and a valuable lesson was learned by me.

Dear Grandma, is this one HOT?

Cory and I walked out to the lighthouse. In March. Without being swept out to sea (ok, I know it's not a sea).

Mom and Dad took us out to Rupp's in Cleveland. YUM!

This was really cool--Grandma got a craft project that she and the girls worked on together. SO CUTE! They made stuffed bunnies.

I am leaving these photos of the girls and Grandma in... it's comical to me that there are so many combinations of girls with their eyes closed!

Our adventure to Chicago was pretty fun. We took the rental car back to the airport, then took a shuttle to the nearby Milwaukee Airport station for the Amtrak. The trip was so slick!

We got off the train at Union Station and walked over to our hotel, a La Quinta in the Loop. We checked in, set down our bags and walked straight over to the Art Institute.

While at the Art Institute, we were trying to find the perfect photo of Ruby for her Spring Break dance photo contest.

You'll see a lot of photos in here that would have been spectacular entries... but we were only allowed to submit ONE!

The kids really enjoyed the area with all of the miniatures.

We went to our friends' house for dinner on Wed night that week. SO FUN! We took an uber from the Shedd Aquarium over to their house in Old Irving Park. The kids hung out and had fun, and we got to have some yummy BBQ.

 Ruby loves to braid her hair, then take it out and have wildly curly locks. Here she is at the breakfast table at our hotel.

I think that this might have been the one that we submitted for the Photo Contest for Ruby's dance school.

The photos are a little out of order, but the first day we did the Art Institute followed by pizza at a Gino's East location in the south Loop.

On Wed, we went to the Shedd Aquarium. It was a bit of a hike, but we walked from our hotel. We got to walk along the path that goes along Lakeshore Drive. Favorites from the Shedd Aquarium were the Beluga whales and the dolphin show.

 Photos are sorta wonky because I upload some from my camera camera and others from my phone. I'm so good at making things more difficult for myself!

On Thursday (March 15) we were among the first in line at the Sears Tower (now the Willis Tower). We spent about an hour at the Skydeck. Then we walked around the city for a bit until it was time for us to head back to Union Station and catch our train.

Cute story: the conductor remembered Ruby from the trip south to Chicago that Tuesday and asked her a bunch of questions about her trip. When Ruby had to use the bathroom later on, the conductor slipped into her seat so that when she returned from the bathroom, someone had stolen her seat!

After the trip to Chicago, we spent one more night at mom & dad's and then spent our last night in Wisconsin at the tried and true Blue Harbor.

We had to make a trip to Gosse's... DUH!
